About Me

Meet Nick (Dip CBH)

I am a fully qualified Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist.

Having worked as a contractor in the financial services industry for over twenty years, I became acutely aware of the stresses present in high pressure environments and the long term harms these can cause if not addressed. I was conscious that in many working environments, people can find it difficult to seek help, where there is constant pressure to be seen to be performing and that many people struggle on without knowing how to resolve personal pressures resulting in becoming very isolated and stuck in a vicious circle.

As a contractor, I was also conscious of how challenging jobhunting could be, from applications being met with silence, to the sense of rejection from failed interviews. Jobhunting can cause self doubt, fears of uncertainty for the future and for many it can be a hugely challenging experience.

For many years I have practised meditation and had a deep interest in the human mind and how we percieve our experience, with many philosphical concepts showing that our personal experience is shaped by the way we percieve it from sensations of pain and discomfort, to feelings of despair due to percieved events that hadn't even happened yet. I became interested in the idea that it is possible to improve our lived experience by changing how we percieve our environment and our place in it. People can be terrified of an object that could never do them harm and be totally aware of this, yet still be paralysed with fear. People can be acutely worried or angry about something that is out of their control and may never impact them at all, to the extent that their false perception has a significant impact on their lives.

This led me on a long and winding path to discover Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy. I saw potential with CBT, to be able to change our perception of our environment, to understand our thoughts, behaviours and responses better and thus achieve a clearer perspective of how to improve our experience. In hypnotherapy I discovered a safe technique for achieving pinpoint focus and suggestability and the possibility for implementing positive change in our behaviours, our thinking and our overall perception of our daily experience.

We only have one life, why waste it with negative emotions.

I have found the combination of CBT and Hypnosis in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy to be extremely powerful at identifying issues and implementing positive change as well as incorporating many other techniques such as cognitive defusion, mindfulness and psychotherapy techniques such as cue controlled desensitisation, positive muscle relaxation and pain control among many others.

Using these proven, evidence-based techniques I aim to help people find a better way of living and provide them with skills they can continue using in daily life.
